Birds is a series of cups that resemble the silhouette of a tiny bird. It embodies my personal experience of drinking tea from a dainty tea cup that was one of my ceramic instructor Julie York's personal collection of cups. It was very inspiring to re-engage myself into my bodily interaction with a cup; how I hold a cup and drink from it. As Birds do not have any conventional handle, one would hold it in one's palm as one would carefully hold a tiny bird. Therefore, one becomes more aware of the temperature of what one drinks and the cup's presence. Designed with subtlety using minimal colour and washed effect from the oxides, Birds welcome the slow and mindful act of drinking tea.
